چکیده
To elucidate the efficacy of Choto-san (Diao-Teng-San) in comparison with a placebo, a double-blind study was carried out in 139 patients suffering from vascular dementia. Choto-san extract glanules (7.5 g/d) and a placebo, were given 3 times a day for 12 weeks, respectively. Informed consent was obtained from the patients and/or their families. Choto-san was statistically superior to the placebo in global improvement rating, utility rating, and global improvement ratings of subjective symptoms, psychiatric symptoms and disturbance in daily living activities. Such items as spontaneity of conversation, lack of facial expression, decline in simple mathematical ability, nocturnal delirium, sleep disturbance, hallucination or delusion, and putting on and taking off clothes were significantly improved at one or more evaluation points in those taking Chotosan compared to those taking the placebo. However, no significant difference between the Choto-san and placebo groups was observed in the global improvement rating of neurological symptoms at any of the evaluation points. There was no significant difference between the two groups in terms of the overall safety rating. These results suggest that Choto-san has a favorable effect on vascular dementia and can be recommended as a treatment for this condition. Double-blind, placebo-controlled studies are significant to evaluate the efficacy and safety of herbal medicines. IL-02 Molecular physiology of volume-regulated chloride channels in heart

The Zeitgeist of Challenging the Evidence. A Perspective on the International Consensus Meeting on Periprosthetic Joint Infection
Background: The economic burden of the treatment of periprosthetic joint infection (PJI) is high and the treatment of PJI has a high degree of international controversy. Several papers have declared the International Consensus Meeting on Periprosthetic Joint Infection (ICMPJI) to be the "flawless pledge of international academics" to overcome the challenges of musculoskeletal infections. The p...
متن کاملAnalytic extension of a $N$th roots of $M$-hyponormal operator
In this paper, we study some properties of analytic extension of a $n$th roots of $M$-hyponormal operator. We show that every analytic extension of a $n$th roots of $M$-hyponormal operator is subscalar of order $2k+2n$. As a consequence, we get that if the spectrum of such operator $T$ has a nonempty interior in $mathbb{C}$, then $T$ has a nontrivial invariant subspace. Finally, w...

Green tea used for year has a popular cancer preventive activity. Researchers have showed green tea inhibited growth of cancer in the animals. This research has been done with awareness of positives effect of green tea, which is approved by researchers and the importance of treatment of opened skin wound. This work has been done experimentally. There were 56 male mice in 7 different groups. Dif...
متن کاملNonexistence and existence results for a 2$n$th-order $p$-Laplacian discrete Neumann boundary value problem
This paper is concerned with a 2nth-order p-Laplacian difference equation. By using the critical point method, we establish various sets of sufficient conditions for the nonexistence and existence of solutions for Neumann boundary value problem and give some new results. Results obtained successfully generalize and complement the existing ones.

Conventional cephalometric analysis, based on intracranial reference line SN and Frankfurt plan, sometimes leads to incorrect diagnostic findings and unpleasant theraputic results, especially in orthosurgery patients, mainly due to the instability of the mentioned references. Natural head position (NHP) is the standardized orientation of the head that its record in lateral cephalometric radiogr...
